    Venezuela Earthquake Death Toll Rises to 2,954 as Rescue Operations Continue

    Caracas: The death toll from the twin earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24 has risen to 2,954, while 16,592 people have been injured, according to the latest official update.

    National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez said rescue and relief operations remain underway across the worst-affected regions as authorities continue searching for survivors and assisting displaced families.

    Rescue Operations Continue Across Affected States

    According to the latest update, 6,462 people have been rescued following the powerful earthquakes, which affected the central states of Aragua, Miranda and La Guaira, as well as the western states of Carabobo, Yaracuy and Falcon.

    Authorities said 29,567 emergency responders remain deployed, including 3,281 international rescue personnel assisting with search and relief efforts.

    Thousands Displaced, Hundreds of Buildings Damaged

    The disaster has left 16,209 people without homes, with 856 buildings damaged and 190 structures completely collapsed.

    To support displaced residents, authorities have established 80 temporary relief camps across the affected areas.

    Hundreds of Aftershocks Recorded

    Since the magnitude 7.5 and 7.2 earthquakes struck on June 24, Venezuela has experienced 942 aftershocks, keeping residents on edge and complicating rescue operations.

    Officials continue to monitor seismic activity while assessing structural damage across the affected regions.

    Seven-Day National Mourning

    Acting President Delcy Rodriguez has declared seven days of national mourning in memory of those who lost their lives in the disaster.

    In announcing the decision, she expressed solidarity with affected families and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to relief, rehabilitation and recovery efforts.

    Authorities have warned that the humanitarian response remains ongoing, with rescue teams continuing their search for survivors as thousands of families await long-term assistance.
