“Women are not safe in Mamata Banerjee’s Bengal”: BJP takes aim by sharing video

Kolkata: The BJP has once again launched a scathing attack on the state government over women’s safety in West Bengal. BJP IT cell chief and central observer Amit Malviya shared a video on social media on Wednesday, showing a woman and her family members being brutally beaten with bamboo sticks in Uttar Bhanganmari village, Basanti block, Canning subdivision, South 24 Parganas district.

In the video, the accused are seen fearlessly beating the woman with sticks and rods, while bystanders were present at the scene but failed to intervene. The victim reportedly accused several individuals—Jaleel Laskar, Munna Laskar, Arif Laskar, and others—of attacking her following a dispute the previous day.

Sharing the video, Amit Malviya said, “No woman is safe in Mamata Banerjee’s Bengal. The video speaks for itself.”

BJP’s allegation: Criminals have no fear of the law, governance is completely broken

In his post, Malviya said that despite no dispute, the attack on the woman in broad daylight has exposed the state’s law and order situation.

He wrote:
“The most shocking thing is that the criminals show no fear of the law. This reflects political patronage and the failure of the government machinery.”

Malviya cited the incident as a clear example of the poor state of women’s safety in the state, saying that the criminals are so fearless that they don’t even worry about getting punished.

Raising this issue, he said that women in West Bengal continue to face violence, harassment, and attacks, but the government remains a “mute spectator.”

TMC also targeted over attack on SIR camp

In another post, Amit Malviya shared a video of the attack on the BJP’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) camp in Pandaveshwar, West Burdwan district.

He claimed that the camp was allegedly attacked and set on fire by Trinamool Congress supporters.

According to him—
“The police were informed in advance, but they did not provide any security and simply watched the events unfold.”

He questioned:
“What is the meaning of such violence and threats during a democratic process? What is the TMC afraid of?”

Suvendu Adhikari’s sharp statement

Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, also shared the same video on X, criticizing the government.

He said:
“This government is a complete failure and anti-women in protecting women. It must be removed from power.”

Waiting for TMC’s response

There has been no official response from the Trinamool Congress regarding the incident.

Local police are investigating the case, but the BJP says that “investigations are merely formalities” and that the perpetrators receive political protection.
