Vijay casts vote in Chennai, demands transportation for voters

Chennai: Actor and political party leader Vijay cast his vote at the Nelankarai polling station and appealed to the Election Commission of India to arrange emergency public transportation for voters.

Demand for additional buses

Vijay stated in his letter that thousands of voters in Chennai and other Tamil Nadu cities are stranded at bus terminals because buses or other public transportation are not available to reach polling stations.

He stated that many people, both from within the country and abroad and traveling within the state, arrived to vote, but adequate arrangements were not made for the public due to buses being deployed for election duty.

Appeal for immediate action

He requested the Election Commission to direct the Transport Department and District Election Officers to immediately provide additional government buses, shuttles, and other vehicles to transport stranded voters to polling stations.

Celebrities also cast their votes

Meanwhile, Vijay’s parents, S.A. Chandrasekhar and Shoba Chandrasekhar, also cast their votes.

Director H. Vinoth, Pa. Ranjith, and Atlee also cast their votes.

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth and his daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth, along with actor-politician Kamal Haasan, arrived to cast their votes.

Several other stars, including Vikram, Gautham Karthik, Ajith Kumar, Anirudh Ravichander, and Dhanush, also cast their votes.

Voting continues across the state

A large number of people are voting across the state to elect their representatives. Voting for the 234-seat assembly is taking place on Thursday and counting will take place on May 4.
