Himachal: Vikramaditya meets Union Minister Shivraj Chouhan, new roads to be built in next phase of PMGSY

Himachal Pradesh Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh met Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in New Delhi on Saturday and presented a detailed progress report on the approved road projects and ongoing works in Himachal Pradesh under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Phase-4. The meeting primarily focused on the road projects in Dodra Kwar, a highly inaccessible and high-altitude area of the ​​Shimla district.

It was informed that some sections of the road in the Dodra Kwar area, approved under PMGSY Phase-1, have not yet been completed due to harsh geographical conditions, difficult terrain, difficult weather, and limited working season. This route is extremely sensitive for the local rural population, border areas, disaster management, health emergency services, and the supply of essential materials.

In this context, Vikramaditya Singh requested that special concessions, additional financial support, and technical assistance be provided for the pending road packages and remaining Phase 1 works in the Dodra Kwar region, ensuring early all-weather road connectivity for the people of this geographically challenging region.

During the meeting, it was also informed that approximately 1,500 kilometers of rural road projects have been approved for Himachal under PMGSY-4, with an estimated cost of approximately ₹2,300 crore.

Additionally, the state government has proposed approximately 1,200 kilometers of additional roads under Phase 2 of PMGSY-4 to the Central Government. The Public Works Department is preparing DPRs (Detailed Project Reports) for these projects, and approval is expected in the near future.
