Vimal Negi death case: Suspended ASI Pankaj Sharma presented in High Court, security removed

Himachal Pradesh High Court has removed the security given to suspended ASI Pankaj Sharma in the Vimal Negi death case. Pankaj’s wife has approached the court over the alleged illegal detention and surveillance orders by the state government.

The petitioner demanded the immediate release of her husband and the withdrawal of all surveillance orders imposed on him. The court was informed that her husband is not even being allowed to reside in the government accommodation allotted to him in Bharari, Shimla.

He is still forcibly kept in Set Number One of the Police Guest House, Kaithu. A division bench of Chief Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia and Justice Ranjan Sharma took immediate cognizance of the matter, considering its seriousness, and directed the state government to produce ASI Pankaj Sharma in the court at 2:00 pm.

Following the court’s orders, Pankaj was produced in the court. After hearing the state government and the CBI, the court directed the government to file a reply to the petition and removed all the security imposed on Pankaj Sharma.
