Chandigarh: The former State Secretary of BJP Punjab, Vineet Joshi, has accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress of misleading the poor, labourers, and workers of Punjab by making false promises in the name of “Viksit Bharat G Ram G Bill” and various welfare schemes.
Addressing the issue, Joshi said that senior Punjab BJP leader Sunil Jakhar will lead a statewide campaign beginning January 7 to expose what the BJP describes as the “lies, failures, and misgovernance” of the AAP and Congress in the state.
He alleged that under the MGNREGA Act, the government failed to provide the legally mandated 100 days of employment to labourers. “If the scheme was implemented honestly, workers should have received at least 400 days of work over the last four years. If they did not, was any alternative unemployment allowance provided?” Joshi questioned.
Joshi further claimed large-scale irregularities under MGNREGA, alleging corruption worth crores of rupees. He said that payments meant for genuine workers were often siphoned off, while individuals close to MLAs and MPs—who allegedly did not work under the scheme—received the funds.
“The money meant for poor labourers is being misappropriated. Those who never come to work are paid, while real workers are denied their wages,” Joshi alleged.
He said the BJP’s campaign aims to present the facts before the public and expose the truth. “Through this movement, we will place all facts before the people and clearly separate truth from falsehood,” Joshi said.
The AAP and Congress have not yet responded to these allegations.
