Violent clash between ABVP and Left-backed groups at JNU

New Delhi : Violent clash between ABVP and Left-backed groups at JNU over election committee selection results in injuries and police complaints. Some students were injured in a clash between two groups at the Language Institute of Jawaharlal Nehru University on Thursday night over the selection of election committee members. A university official said that some students have been admitted to Safdarjung Hospital. An alleged video of the incident has surfaced.

In which a person is seen beating some students with a stick, in another clip a person is seen throwing a bicycle at the students. In another purported video of the incident, some people are seen assaulting others and university security personnel trying to save them.
Students from Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and leftist groups have filed police complaints against each other. The university administration has not yet given any reaction on this incident nor has any information been received about the number of injured students.

Both groups have blamed each other for the clash that ensued over the selection of election committee members. They have also filed police complaints against each other.

No immediate response was available from the university administration and the number of students injured during the incident could not be confirmed.

The incident has reignited concerns over the escalating tensions between different student factions within JNU, known for its politically charged atmosphere and active student body involvement in socio-political issues.
