Jaipur, Rajasthan: Punjab-cadre IAS officer Vipul Ujwal has received national recognition as the Panchayat Advancement Index won the Gold Award at the National e-Governance Awards 2026, highlighting India’s progress in digital rural governance.

The award was presented during the 29th National e-Governance Conference held in Jaipur, where several innovative government initiatives were honoured for excellence in digital governance and public service delivery.

Major Recognition for Rural Governance Platform

The Panchayat Advancement Index is a flagship initiative under the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India, and is regarded as one of the country’s largest rural governance data platforms.

It provides a structured, data-driven system to evaluate and improve the performance of Panchayati Raj institutions, helping strengthen transparency, accountability, and efficiency at the grassroots level.

Boost to Digital Rural Governance

Officials said the platform represents a significant step in advancing Digital India goals by enabling better monitoring and evidence-based decision-making in rural development.

The recognition at the national level underscores the growing importance of technology-driven governance tools in improving service delivery and strengthening local self-governance systems across India.
