Thangaraja Leads Vishwa Samudra Open After Day Two

Sri Lankan golfer N. Thangaraja surged to the top of the leaderboard at the Vishwa Samudra Open 2025 held at Delhi Golf Club, posting the second day’s best round  a six‑under 66. With a 36‑hole total of five‑under 139, Thangaraja now holds a two‑stroke lead, climbing 17 places from his overnight tie for 18th. His stellar performance has made him the player to watch as the tournament heads into the final rounds.

    Competition Heats Up

First-round leader Jairaj Singh Sandhu slipped to second place after a round of 73, placing him at three‑under 141. Trailing closely at two‑under 142 are Dhruv Sheoran, Yuvraj Sandhu, Viraj Madappa, and Rashid Khan, all tied for third. The tight leaderboard ensures the race for the trophy remains highly competitive, with multiple players capable of challenging Thangaraja’s lead.

    Thangaraja’s Strong Form

Despite missing last week’s PGTI event due to flooding in Sri Lanka, Thangaraja returned with determination and adapted quickly to the cold Delhi conditions. He capitalized on all four par‑5s with birdies and displayed consistent tee shots, precise approaches, and steady putting. “Considering the circumstances, I’m quite proud of my effort,” he remarked after his round. His composure and focus make him a strong contender for the title.

    Looking Ahead

With a narrow two‑stroke lead, Thangaraja is positioned well, but the competition remains intense. Maintaining consistency, especially on the greens, will be critical in the remaining rounds. Fans and analysts will be watching closely to see if Thangaraja can hold off challengers like Sandhu, Sheoran, Madappa, and Rashid to clinch the championship.
