Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Police has put up posters of the four wanted terrorists in several locations in Srinagar to help the general public to trace them. A reward has also been announced by the Police.
The four terrorists are Bilal Ahmad Mir from Sopore, Abid Qayoom Lone from Baramulla, Mohammad Lateef Bhat from Kulgam and Mohammad Umar Mir from Sopore.
The posters contain the pictures of the terrorists and ask the public to come forward with reliable information. It assures informants that their identity will be kept a secret and there will be a good reward for reliable information.
The posters state: “Anyone who can provide credible information regarding the movement/presence of these terrorists, the identity of the informant will be kept strictly confidential and a handsome reward will be given for reliable information.”
Posters Help Collect Information About Terrorists
The J&K Police has in the past put up posters of wanted, lookout notices and rewards to the general public to help the security services find active terrorists. This helps the agencies collect sensitive information about terrorists and understand their network.
Posters are often put up in the Police with the name, picture and hometown of the wanted along with the name of the terrorist group they are linked to including Hizbul Mujahideen, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). Rewards of between five lakh and twenty lakh rupees have been announced for actionable information in the past.
The posters are displayed in busy areas around Srinagar including M.A. Road and Nowgam. Posters have also been put up in Pulwama, Kulgam and Anantnag districts of South Kashmir.
Posters Helped With Past Terror Investigations
After high impact security incidents like the Pahalgam attack posters were put up of key suspects in South Kashmir with rewards of up to twenty lakh rupees.
In October 2025 posters linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed were put up in Nowgam in Srinagar. This acted as a heads up for the security services. CCTV footage showed who put up the posters helping the Police to discover a terror network spanning multiple states and a drone module linked to planned bomb caches.
The notices usually highlight that any information received will be kept a secret and give numbers to contact.
Wanted posters and lookout notices are an effective way used by the security services to ask the public for help finding suspected terrorists.
