Shimla: The monsoon is showing its colors as it leaves., heavy rain has caused damage to roads and crops in the area. Several vehicles have been swept away by the strong currents of the drain in Paonta Sahib, and many roads in the area have been closed due to landslides.
In addition to Sirmaur, heavy rain has also been reported in many areas of Shimla and Solan until 10 am. As a result, more than 80 roads and over 400 electricity transformers have stopped working across the state.
Heavy rains caused havoc in many areas of Sirmaur district last night amidst the warning of the Meteorological Department in Himachal Pradesh. After the gates of Jaton Dam built on Giri River in Giripar area of Sirmaur district were opened at night, there was chaos in Anj-Bhoj area. More than 15 roads were damaged in Paonta itself, including the Amboya bridge connecting 11 panchayats of the area.
70-year-old Rangilal, who was sleeping in a gharaat in Atwal village of Amboya Panchayat of Paonta Sahib, died after being buried under debris. In view of heavy rains and damage to roads, SDM Paonta Sahib Gunjit Cheema has declared holiday in all educational institutions of the division.
The Meteorological Center Shimla has issued a fresh bulletin and warned of heavy rains in 7 districts Kangra, Chamba, Hamirpur, Mandi, Bilaspur, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur by 12 noon.
Flash flood alert has also been issued in the low-lying areas of these districts. Waterlogging like conditions can occur after heavy rains. Given this, people have been asked to be cautious.
