Chandigarh Meteorological Center has issued Yellow Alert for 2 days and Orange Alert on May 18 and 19. According to the department, if the temperature continues to rise in the same way, then the orange alert can be changed to red alert.
Intense heat has commenced in Punjab. Hot winds prevailed in many districts on Tuesday and the maximum temperature reached over 42 degrees Celsius. Faridkot and Pathankot were the hottest. The maximum temperature here was recorded as 42.1 and 42 degrees Celsius respectively.
Scorching heat has started to show its colors in Haryana. The maximum temperature in the state has reached 43.1 degrees in Sirsa. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning that the dry season has now started.
