Weather to change in Punjab-Chandigarh from tonight: Night temperature to rise, rain expected

The weather in Punjab and Chandigarh will change tonight. Rain and lightning are expected over the next two days, February 17th and 18th. Meanwhile, the cold has almost subsided during the day, and a warmer climate is being felt. For the first time this year, temperatures have crossed 29 degrees in February.

Ferozepur recorded the highest temperature. In the past 24 hours, the minimum and maximum temperatures have increased by 1 degree. The maximum temperature was recorded 3.9 degrees above normal. Night temperatures will increase over the next two days, with increases ranging from one to three degrees.

According to the Meteorological Department, strong westerly winds are blowing and a new western system has become active, causing changes in the weather across North India. A new western disturbance is about to reach the mountains, which will cause changes in the weather.

Snowfall is possible in the mountains during this period. Due to this, rain is expected in Punjab and Chandigarh on the 17th and 18th. Thunderstorms will also occur. However, today will be sunny, with winds likely to continue.

Minimum temperatures will also range from 8 to 12 degrees.

According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in the last 24 hours has ranged from 24 to 29 degrees. Both Chandigarh and Mohali recorded a maximum temperature of 26.4 degrees. Amritsar recorded 24.6 degrees, Ludhiana 27.0 degrees, Patiala 27.3 degrees, Bathinda 26.0 degrees, and Rupnagar 26.8 degrees. The minimum temperature ranged from 8 to 12 degrees.

Night temperatures will rise.

Meteorological Department Director Surendra Pal stated that light rain is possible in some areas on the 17th and 18th. Thunderstorms and lightning are also possible in some areas on both days. In the coming 3 days, the night temperature may increase by 2 to 3 degrees, after which it may again fall by 2 to 3 degrees.
