Weather changes in Odisha-Andhra, Deep Depression makes landfall

A deep depression formed in the Bay of Bengal hit the coast of North Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha late Wednesday night. The weather system crossed the coast near Kalingapatnam, bringing heavy rain and strong winds to several areas.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, with extremely heavy rainfall possible at some places.

Heavy Rain Alert in Telangana

After crossing the coast, the weather system is now moving inland. According to the IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in parts of Telangana on September 24 and 25.

Administration Alert in Odisha

The administration in Odisha had intensified preparations before the landfall. Disaster relief teams were deployed in vulnerable areas, while schools were closed in several affected districts as a precaution.
