Monsoon has entered Punjab via Pathankot today from Himachal. It was expected that this monsoon would enter Punjab around 28 June, but this time it has entered Punjab a week before time. Rain is being seen in Amritsar and Ludhiana of Punjab since morning. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert regarding rain in the state today. It is expected that there will be rain in 16 districts of Punjab today and people will get relief from the heat.
The average maximum temperature in the state has recorded a drop of 1.0 degree Celsius. Despite this, the temperature still remains 1.9 degrees Celsius below normal, which is considered below the average for this time of the season. According to the Meteorological Department, the highest temperature in the state was recorded at 38.8 degrees Celsius, which was recorded in Bathinda.
Weather experts believe that the temperature may fall further with the advancement of monsoon in the coming days.
Orange alert in Pathankot-Hoshiarpur
Today, an orange alert has been issued for rain in Pathankot and Hoshiarpur in Punjab. There is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning here. At the same time, a yellow alert has been issued for rain in Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, Ludhiana, Barnala, Sangrur, Mansa, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Mohali and Rupnagar.
Chances of rain throughout the week in the state
The coming week is going to be very active in terms of weather in Punjab. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning from June 22 to June 27. In which heavy to very heavy rains, thunderstorms and strong winds have been predicted in different parts of the state.
The situation may worsen on June 22 as heavy to very heavy rains are expected on that day. There is a warning of continuous thunderstorms, lightning and heavy rains from June 23 to 27. Rains may become more widespread on June 24 and 25 and heavy to very heavy rains are expected on those days as well.

Patiala- There will be light clouds, rain is expected. The temperature can remain between 27 to 34 degrees.
Mohali- There will be light clouds, rain is expected. The temperature can remain between 27 to 32 degrees.
