What do stats say on education revolution?

There are significant efforts to make education universal and accessible to every corner of the country. Declarations are being made that the country is on the threshold of an education revolution. New education models are being adopted. It is also being said that education will no longer be held hostage to expensive Western schools, but will be made accessible to the masses through government schools spread across villages. This will prevent the common people from having to sacrifice their own means to educate their children in expensive private schools. However, some education data revealed in a recent nationwide survey raises concern that there are still many shortcomings that have not been addressed.

First, it is common knowledge that the power of digital artificial intelligence we talk about has not reached rural areas. The second flaw being pointed out is that the way education is being digitalized, curriculum and training are not being modernized in the same way. In fact, a shocking statistic has emerged that there are over one lakh schools in the country where the entire school is run by just one teacher.

New data from the central government shows that approximately 33.76 lakh students study in these schools. Now, tell me how one teacher can teach all classes at the same time? The level of education will inevitably decline. It is true that such schools are hard to find in Delhi or Chandigarh, but it is also true that, according to the 2024-25 report, there are a total of 1,04,125 single-teacher schools in the country. The highest number of such schools is in Andhra Pradesh.

The highest number of students studying in these schools is in Uttar Pradesh. Yes, it is a good thing that no single-teacher school is in the Union Territories. While the number of such schools has decreased by 6 percent in the last two years, there are still over one lakh such schools in the country, tarnishing the image of the education revolution.
