    Winds of Development

While the common man is currently deeply concerned about the terrifying war unfolding in the Gulf region, the positive results emerging from efforts to revitalize the nation’s economy cannot be overlooked. Let us first look at Punjab.

On Monday, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann handed over appointment letters to 155 youths under an employment drive. With this, the total number of unemployed individuals provided with jobs has reached 67,037. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann stated that alongside distributing jobs, they have eradicated corruption; employment is being awarded based on merit, transparency, and fairness.

The Chief Minister also addressed the issue of paper leaks. He noted that while 93 exam papers have been leaked across India since 2017, Punjab has managed its education and examination systems in such a way that not a single paper leak has occurred in the state. According to a survey, Punjab has now surpassed Kerala to secure the number one position. Meanwhile, Tuesday marked the completion of 12 years of the Modi administration, and the record of the country’s progress presented for this period is impressive.

A significant indicator of this progress is that approximately 250 million (25 crore) people in India have escaped multidimensional poverty during these years. Multidimensional poverty declined from 29.17 percent in 2013-14 to 12.23 percent—a reduction of 17.89 percentage points.

The central government has introduced the Ayushman Card scheme, providing free medical treatment up to Rs 5 lakh, a benefit that is actively reaching the public. Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, free food grains are being distributed to over 810 million (81 crore) people across the country. The school dropout rate for girls in primary schools has fallen from 4.6 percent in 2013-14 to 0.3 percent in 2024-25. Furthermore, banking has been strongly encouraged in India, and millions of people have been brought into the banking fold through the opening of 580 million Jan Dhan accounts. The figures are impressive, and amidst the prevailing global uncertainty, they offer a sense of relief to the country
