Hisar: Police in Hisar have arrested a woman for allegedly stealing barbed wire from the Delhi–Bathinda National Highway 9. The Sadar police have registered a case against the accused and launched an investigation.

According to a complaint filed by Forest Department officer Arun Kumar, the department’s team was patrolling NH-9 on March 14 when they received information through Dial 112 that a woman was stealing barbed wire near Ankur Filling Station close to Satrod Cantt.

Acting on the tip-off, the team rushed to the spot and apprehended the woman. During preliminary investigation, it was found that the woman, along with members of a gang, was allegedly cutting and removing barbed wire installed along the highway.

20 Quintals of Barbed Wire Stolen

Officials alleged that around 20 quintals of barbed wire were stolen from different locations between kilometre 170 and 180 on the Delhi–Bathinda road. The total value of the stolen material is estimated to be about ₹2,71,700.

According to the police, the arrested woman has been identified as Kamala, wife of Jile Singh. A case has been registered against her under Section 303 of the Indian Penal Code at Sadar police station, and the investigation has been handed over to Head Constable Rakhi.

Theft Reported from Multiple Locations

As per the Forest Department complaint, approximately 15 quintals of barbed wire were stolen between kilometre 170 and 175, while another 5 quintals were removed from the stretch between kilometre 175 and 180 on the Delhi–Bathinda National Highway 9.

The accused allegedly cut the roadside fencing and removed the wires from several points along the highway.

Police said the woman was caught at the scene near Satrod Cantt, and a search operation is underway to trace other members of the gang involved in the theft.
