Woman from Gujarat shot dead in US supermarket, incident captured on CCTV

New Delhi: An Indian woman from Gujarat was shot and killed during a suspected robbery attempt at a supermarket in the US state of Virginia. The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Meghnaben Patel, who had been working at the supermarket for the past 10 years.

Meghnaben Patel was a resident of Jantral village in Mehsana district, Gujarat. Her father, Karsanbhai Patel, and mother, Kapilaben, currently live in the village. Her family includes her husband, Upendrabhai Patel, daughter, Nakshiben, and son, Smith.

According to media reports, the entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the supermarket. The footage shows a man entering the store with his face covered. He was wearing animal print track pants and a gray jacket. The accused approaches the counter and appears to converse with the woman.

Shortly after, the accused pulls a gun from his pocket and shoots the woman. Meghnaben fell behind the counter after being shot. The accused then entered the counter and was seen firing at her again before fleeing the scene.

Upon receiving information about the incident, local police arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, and began an investigation. Police have also formed special teams to apprehend the accused. The case is currently under investigation based on CCTV footage and other evidence.
