Delhi Horror: Woman gang-raped inside bus; driver, conductor arrested

New Delhi: A woman was allegedly gang-raped by a sleeper bus driver and conductor inside a parked vehicle in Delhi, police sources said on Thursday. The incident reportedly took place on May 12, following which both accused were arrested.

Based on the survivor’s complaint, Delhi Police registered an FIR at Saraswati Vihar Police Station under Sections 64(1) (rape), 70(1) (gang rape) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police said the woman was returning home after finishing work at a factory when the incident occurred.

Accused Allegedly Pulled Woman Into Vehicle

According to investigators, the survivor had reached near the B-Block bus stand in Saraswati Vihar when she approached one of the accused, who was standing near the sleeper bus, to ask for the time.

The accused allegedly dragged her inside the bus, where the assault took place. Police said the woman was later thrown out of the vehicle after the incident.

Her statement was recorded and a medical examination was conducted before the FIR was registered.

    Bus Seized, Forensic Examination Underway

Police sources said the sleeper bus has been seized as part of the investigation. The two accused — identified as the bus driver and conductor — are currently in custody and are being questioned.

Investigators are also examining evidence collected from the vehicle, while forensic and medical reports are awaited.

According to reports, the bus allegedly had tinted windows, which are prohibited, and lacked emergency exit provisions.

Officials said they are verifying the sequence of events, including whether the bus was operational at the time of the incident and if any passengers were present inside the vehicle.

The identities of the survivor and the accused have not been disclosed.
