Keeping these practical challenges in mind, the government is working to provide relief through policy-level measures. The Punjab government said women employees should not be forced to choose between their careers and family responsibilities. With this objective, efforts will be made to give preference to postings closer to their homes wherever possible.
8% Increase in DA for Employees and Pensioners
Meanwhile, the Punjab government has announced an 8% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees and pensioners. According to the Punjab government, the decision will benefit around eight lakh employees and pensioners across the state. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann described the decision as an important step related to the financial well-being and dignity of government employees. The increased DA is expected to be implemented from the September salary.
Decision Taken After Meeting with Employee Organisations
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann held a meeting with representatives of employee and pensioner organisations to discuss their demands and concerns. According to the Punjab government, the meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere, with emphasis on finding solutions to various issues through dialogue.
After the meeting, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann also shared details on the social media platform X. He described government employees as an important part of the state’s administrative structure and said their welfare remains among the Punjab government’s priorities.
