Yamuna above danger mark, possibility of flood in Delhi

This morning, the Yamuna is flowing above the danger mark (Iron Bridge). There is a danger of flood in Delhi.

Although the water level of the Yamuna river had come down below the danger mark yesterday, the water was much above the warning level of 204.5 meters.

The water level was recorded at 205 meters on the old railway bridge at 8 pm on Sunday.

The administration has advised the people living on the banks of the Yamuna to always remain alert and keep an eye on the forecast of the Central Water Commission.

There is relief as the water level of the Yamuna river in Delhi has come down slightly below the danger mark of 205.33 meters.

According to the Central Water Commission, the water level may come down to 204.9 meters by Monday night. Still, the administration said that vigilance is necessary until the water goes below the warning level.

74,095 cusecs of water was released from Hathnikund Barrage till late Monday night, 44,320 cusecs from Wazirabad Barrage and 53,801 cusecs from Okhla Barrage.

People living in low-lying areas like Yamuna Bazaar and Kashmiri Gate have been asked to remain alert.
