Yamunanagar: Farmer who went for Morning Walk gunned down by unidentified assailants

Panic spread through Bal Chhapar village, located within the Chhapar police station jurisdiction in Yamunanagar, on Monday morning when a farmer who had stepped out for a morning walk was shot dead by unidentified assailants. The deceased has been identified as Satnam Singh, a farmer who lived alone in the village. It is reported that he was speech-impaired and, as was his daily routine, had left his home for a walk around 5:30 AM.

According to reports, Satnam Singh had barely reached a distance of about 80 meters from his home when unidentified miscreants riding a motorcycle opened indiscriminate fire upon him. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Following the attack, the accused fled the scene. News of the incident created an atmosphere of panic in the village, and a large number of villagers gathered at the site.

Upon receiving the information, personnel from the Chhapar police station, a CIA team, and senior officials arrived at the scene. The police recovered a spent bullet casing from the crime scene, while preliminary findings indicate that the deceased sustained two gunshot wounds. The body was taken into custody and deposited in the mortuary at the Civil Hospital in Jagadhri, where the family members also arrived after being informed of the tragedy.

DSP Rajat Gulia stated that the police are scrutinizing footage from nearby CCTV cameras, and every aspect of the case is being thoroughly investigated. Preliminary inquiries suggest that an old rivalry may be the motive behind the crime. The police have expressed confidence that the accused will be identified and the case solved shortly.
