Yamunanagar ACB Arrests Patwari’s PA Taking ₹10,000 Bribe; Had Already Collected ₹4,000 From Farmer

Yamunanagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a personal assistant of a patwari in Yamunanagar, Haryana after allegedly taking bribe of Rs 10,000 from a farmer to register land mutation.

The accused was demanding Rs 14,000 for the land mutation (intakal). He had already received Rs 4,000 and allegedly took the amount of Rs 10,000 on Monday when the ACB team caught him red-handed at Patwarkhana (Revenue office) in Mini Secretariat.

The ACB, after receiving the complaint from the farmer, set up a trap in the office. The accused was arrested after he received the amount of money from the farmer.

    Farmers Alleges Harassment

ACB Inspector Tejpal said that Kulbir Singh, a farmer from Saravi village had lodged a complaint with them, against the local patwari and his assistant.

The farmer alleged that he was being harassed by the two officials to register land mutation. He had gone to the office many times but his work could not be completed.

Narendra (Mintu), who was working as the assistant of Dhalaur patwari Sanjeev Kumar, had allegedly demanded Rs 14,000 to complete the process. He had already received Rs 4,000 from the farmer and was pressurising him to pay the remaining amount.

    ACB Set Up Trap

After receiving the complaint, the ACB team of Yamunanagar planned to set up a trap under the leadership of Inspector Tejpal.

Kulbir Singh went to the Patwarkhana in Mini Secretariat along with the ACB team and Narendra (Mintu) was present in the office.

When he handed over the remaining amount of Rs 10,000 to him, the ACB team immediately arrested him and seized the amount.

    Patwari Absent From Office

The patwari of the area Sanjeev Kumar was not present in the office. The accused who was arrested Narendra Kumar (Mintu) was working as personal assistant.

The ACB is interrogating the accused to find out on whose behalf he had demanded the amount. They are also investigating if the patwari had any role in the land mutation. They are also trying to find out if any other person had any role.

This created a flutter in the Mini Secretariat. After the raid, many patwaris and their assistants had left their respective offices.

The Yamunanagar ACB unit has lodged a case against Narendra Kumar of Fakir Majra village at the State Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau police station in Panchkula.
