Yash’s Toxic Gets Stricter UK Rating Than Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar Ahead of Release

New Delhi: Yash’s much-awaited action thriller Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has received its UK classification from the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), with the film earning an 18 rating ahead of its theatrical release.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film has received the highest possible BBFC category ratings for violence, sex and injury detail, indicating the presence of intense and disturbing material. Toxic is scheduled to hit theatres on August 26.

Toxic gets 18 rating in the UK

According to the BBFC classification, Toxic has received 5/5 ratings for violence, sex and injury detail.

The film has also been rated 4/5 for threat and horror, language, drugs, sexual violence and sexual threat, and suicide and self-harm.

The UK version of Toxic has a listed runtime of 191 minutes and 41 seconds.

Toxic contains strong violence and disturbing visuals

The BBFC description highlights several intense scenes in the film. The classification mentions strong images involving corpses, severed body parts, bleeding wounds and pools of blood following violent sequences.

The certification also refers to a disturbing sequence that implies child sexual abuse, along with strong language and scenes involving drug misuse.

The strict classification has drawn attention ahead of the film’s release, particularly because of the intensity of the content described by the BBFC.

Toxic gets stricter classification than Dhurandhar

The UK rating has also sparked comparisons between Toxic and Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar franchise.

Both Dhurandhar, released in 2025, and Dhurandhar 2, released in March 2026, received an 18 rating from the BBFC.

The first Dhurandhar received a 5/5 rating for violence and 4/5 ratings for threat and horror, language, drugs, sexual violence and sexual threat, and suicide and self-harm. Its ratings for sex and discrimination were 2/5 and 3/5, respectively.

Dhurandhar 2 also received a 5/5 rating for violence. It was rated 4/5 for threat and horror, language, drugs, sexual violence and sexual threat, and injury detail. The film received 3/5 for sex and 2/5 for discrimination.

While both Dhurandhar films received an 18 classification, Toxic has received higher BBFC category ratings in several areas, particularly sex and injury detail.

Toxic release date and plot

Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is scheduled for theatrical release on August 26.

The film follows Raya, who rises through betrayal and violence to take control of Goa’s underworld as Portuguese rule comes to an end. His pursuit of power eventually comes with a heavy price.

Yash plays dual roles as Raya and Ticket in the film.

The cast includes Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi and Rukmini Vasanth in key roles.
