11-Year-Old Boy Beaten to Death at Lucknow Gurukul

New Delhi: 11-year-old Divyansh was beaten to death at the Ramanuja Bhagwat Veda Vidya Peeth Gurukul in Lucknow. Accused Mahant Saurabh Mishra, alias Kanhaiya, confessed during police interrogation that the boy was unable to conform to the Gurukul’s rules and was upset by his mischief. In anger, he brutally beat Divyansh for several days.

Made him stand in the sun, denied him food

The accused stated that he made Divyansh stand barefoot in the scorching sun for hours, stripped him, and beat him with sticks. The other children were given food, but Divyansh was kept hungry. Whenever he cried or tried to go into the shade, he was beaten again.

Body found in the morning after being beaten all night

The Mahant confessed that on Tuesday night he severely beat Divyansh with slaps, kicks, punches, a belt, and a stick. When he cried, he dragged him against a wall and slammed him against a wall, causing severe head injuries. When he found him in the morning, Divyansh was dead. He then fled in his car, leaving the body outside the child’s home in Kanpur.

Girlfriend also supported him, CCTV cameras destroyed

According to police, the accused’s girlfriend, Harshita Soni, also supported him. She sent the children from the Gurukul home, broke the CCTV cameras on the premises, and booked a car. Police recovered footage from the DVR, which clearly shows the brutality inflicted on Divyansh. In one video, all the children are eating, while Divyansh is seen crying in a corner.
