24-year-old man from Pathankot shot dead in Canada

Harjas Singh, a 24-year-old man from Pathankot, was shot dead in Calgary, Canada. Harjas had gone to the United States about three months ago in search of employment and was working in a store there. He had arrived in Calgary, Canada, for some work when he was shot by an unknown assailant.

Shooting reported in Calgary

The incident occurred at approximately 12:55 a.m. on August 30 in the 1100 block of Cornerstone Boulevard NE. Calgary police responded to the shooting and found Harjas Singh dead. The police homicide unit is investigating the case.

Surprise not yet arrested

Police stated that no suspects have been arrested in the case. The search for the attacker is ongoing. Police have appealed to the public to contact 403-266-1234 with any information related to the incident. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers.

Family appeals for body to be brought back to India

As soon as the news of Harjas’s death reached his family in Pathankot, mourning descended upon the family. The family is inconsolable. Local residents and relatives have appealed to the government to assist the family in bringing Harjas’s body back to India as soon as possible.
