Yellow alert for cold wave in 6 districts of Punjab: Temperature drop by 2 degrees

A yellow alert for a cold wave has been issued in six districts of Punjab: Ferozepur, Faridkot, Muktsar, Fazilka, Bathinda, and Mansa. This alert will remain in effect for the next 48 hours. According to the Meteorological Center, the cold wave is expected to intensify in the state over the next 48 hours. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature in the state remains 2.7 degrees below normal.

According to data released by the Meteorological Center, the maximum temperature in the state has dropped by 0.1 degrees and remains close to normal. However, temperatures in all cities, which were hovering around 30 degrees, are now being recorded between 26 and 29 degrees. Additionally, the minimum temperature in the state has dropped by 0.7 degrees and remains 2.7 degrees below normal.

Faridkot recorded the lowest temperature of 7.2 degrees. Meanwhile, Amritsar recorded a minimum temperature of 9.6 degrees, Ludhiana 9 degrees, Patiala 10.1 degrees, Bathinda 8 degrees, Gurdaspur 10 degrees, and SBS Nagar 9.1 degrees.

Temperatures to drop by 2 degrees in 48 hours

The cold wave will impact temperatures across Punjab for 48 hours. Temperatures may drop by 2 degrees in the coming days. However, there will be a slight improvement after that, and temperatures will begin to return to normal.

Minimum temperatures in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, and Amritsar districts are expected to reach 6 to 8 degrees Celsius, while other areas of the state are expected to see temperatures between 8 and 10 degrees Celsius. Consequently, minimum temperatures in northern and western districts may remain below normal, while temperatures in other parts are expected to remain close to normal.
