Yellow alert for dense fog in Punjab and Chandigarh for 3 days; Minimum temperature close to normal

A yellow alert for dense fog has been issued in Punjab and Chandigarh starting today. This condition will persist for three consecutive days. A western disturbance is also becoming active from today. The minimum temperature in the state has dropped by 0.4 degrees in the last 24 hours. It is now close to normal.

Adampur was the coldest place in the state, with a temperature of 4.0 degrees. Chandigarh recorded a temperature of 6.9 degrees, 3.6 degrees below normal. However, the weather is expected to remain dry throughout the week, with no rain forecasted.

Western Disturbances Will Be Active This Week

According to the Meteorological Department, two western disturbances will become active one after the other. One will reach the Himalayan regions this evening or by the 13th, while the second western disturbance will reach the Himalayan regions on the 17th and 18th. This will impact the weather.

This will also increase the cold in the plains and the mountains. Meanwhile, a fog alert has been issued for areas bordering Himachal Pradesh today. These districts include Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Patiala.

Cold is increasing during the day and night.

Maximum daytime temperatures have also begun to decline. All districts have recorded temperatures between 22.1 and 27 degrees Celsius. The state’s average maximum temperature has dropped by 0.2 degrees Celsius, bringing it closer to normal. Meanwhile, minimum temperatures range from 4 to 10 degrees Celsius.

The highest minimum temperatures of 10.9 degrees Celsius were recorded in Mohali and 6.9 degrees Celsius in Chandigarh. Amritsar recorded 6.7 degrees Celsius, Ludhiana 6.4 degrees Celsius, Patiala 7.4 degrees Celsius, Pathankot 6.9 degrees Celsius, Bathinda 6.2 degrees Celsius, Faridkot 4.9 degrees Celsius, Ludhiana 8.3 degrees Celsius, and Hoshiarpur 5.9 degrees Celsius.
