Yellow alert for fog in Punjab: No cold wave expected, rain likely from tomorrow

The weather in Punjab and Chandigarh is set to change from today (Saturday). The icy winds will subside, causing the minimum temperature to rise. However, the Chandigarh Meteorological Centre has issued an orange alert for fog until January 21st. A cold wave is not expected.

In the last 24 hours, the minimum and maximum temperatures in the state have increased by 3.8 degrees Celsius, bringing them closer to normal. The minimum temperature has also risen. The lowest minimum temperature of 0.9 degrees Celsius was recorded in Nawanshahr.

According to the Meteorological Department, dense fog is likely in some places in Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Patiala today. The weather is expected to remain dry. People will get relief from the cold wave and cold day conditions. Sunshine is also expected.

Rain is possible in Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, and Rupnagar on January 18th and 19th. Heavy rainfall is expected on the 23rd and 24th.

Temperature will rise with the rain
Surendra Pal, Director of the Chandigarh Meteorological Centre, said that light rain is expected at some places in the state on January 18th, 19th, and 22nd. During this period, the minimum temperature is likely to gradually increase by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius.

The maximum temperature is expected to remain between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius until January 22nd, while the minimum temperature is likely to be between 4 and 6 degrees Celsius.
