A Western Disturbance active over Haryana is creating conditions that feel like an early onset of the monsoon. Meteorologists state that this spell of rain is likely to continue until June 20. A ‘Yellow Alert’ for thunderstorms and rain has been issued for 17 districts of the state today.

Rain is expected today in Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Jind, Kaithal, Karnal, Panipat, Sonipat, Rohtak, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Jhajjar, Gurugram, Faridabad, Nuh, Palwal, and Mahendragarh. Meanwhile, the weather is likely to remain clear in five districts: Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, and Kaithal.

The Meteorological Department indicates a 25 percent chance of rain in these 17 districts today, though rainfall activity is expected to intensify again starting tomorrow.

Rainfall in 10 Haryana districts yesterday

Yesterday, 10 districts in Haryana—Gurugram, Sonipat, Hisar, Mahendragarh, Hansi, Kaithal, Rohtak, Bhiwani, Rewari, and Fatehabad—experienced thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain. In Hansi, waterlogging caused by the rain forced women participating in a *Kalash Yatra* (procession carrying sacred pots) from the Shyam Mandir at Barsi Gate to wade through knee-deep water.

Rainwater entered the doctors’ rooms at the government hospital in Fatehabad. Meanwhile, in Jogiwala village (Sirsa), the roof of a cattle shed attached to a house collapsed due to the storm and rain; 21 cows and buffaloes tethered there were trapped under the debris.

Daytime conditions resembling night in Hisar and Narnaul

According to the Meteorological Department, rainfall and persistent cloud cover throughout the day have led to a sharp drop in daytime temperatures—by up to 9 degrees Celsius—in areas like Hisar and Narnaul. The mercury has plummeted by approximately 9.4 degrees below normal in Hisar and 10.9 degrees below normal in Narnaul, resulting in pleasant weather. The temperature here has been recorded at around 30 degrees.
