As unseasonal rain continues to batter various parts of Rajasthan, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow weather alert for several districts, warning residents of continued rainfall, strong winds and a notable drop in temperatures. The alert comes amid reports of sustained showers over the past two days that have brought a marked chill to the desert state’s climate, traditionally dry and warm in March.

The yellow alert indicates that rainfall is likely to continue in the coming 24 to 48 hours, especially in eastern regions of the state, including Jaipur, Dholpur and Alwar. In addition to rain, the department has also cautioned about gusty winds and possible lightning activity in the alert‑listed districts.

A yellow alert signals “be aware” conditions meaning people should exercise caution, particularly in areas prone to waterlogging, wet surfaces, and sudden gusty winds.

Apart from rainfall, the meteorological department has also cautioned that surface winds may increase in speed, potentially causing disruptions to travel and outdoor activities. While the showers have offered some relief from heat, they have also raised concerns about slippery roads and the potential for localized flooding in low‑lying areas.

Local Impacts and Public Response

With overcast skies and intermittent steady rain, morning routines have changed for many residents. Commuters in Jaipur and surrounding areas noted cooler temperatures and wet roads on Friday, while farmers and outdoor workers welcomed the moisture after prolonged dry spells earlier in the season.
