Punjab Weather update: Yellow alert issued, water level rise in rivers

A yellow alert has been issued for rain in Punjab today as well. The four districts bordering Himachal, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur and Rupnagar may receive heavy and above normal rainfall. The remaining districts will receive light or normal rainfall.

Rain in the mountains has increased difficulties in Punjab. The water level of the Ravi River has risen after rain in Jammu and Kashmir. Many posts and border areas of Pathankot have been submerged in water. Water has risen by 2 to 3 feet in some villages of Pathankot.

On the other hand, due to heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh, the Beas is in its fierce form. Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Sultanpur Lodhi and Tarn Taran are in the grip of floods. At the same time, difficulties have increased in Fazilka due to the Sutlej. Due to the rise in water level in Harike Heads in Tarn Taran, many villages have been flooded.

The situation is getting worse in Sultanpur Lodhi. After this, Khalsa Aid has taken charge for help. Animals trapped in villages are being taken to safe places by Khalsa Aid. Arrangements for food and shelter are also being made for the villagers.

After rain and a cloudburst in Jammu and Kashmir, the train and road routes from Jammu and Kashmir to Punjab have been affected. Roads have been damaged at many places. Some trains have been short-terminated today as well. Railways have issued a warning that before travelling on trains, check the status of the train on the helpline.

Chances of rain in Punjab tomorrow as well

Chances of rain are also there in Punjab tomorrow, Tuesday. Heavy and above normal rain is expected in the districts adjoining Himachal Pradesh. An alert has been issued regarding rain in Pathankot, Gurdaspur and Hoshiarpur of Punjab on Tuesday.

The situation will be normal again in Punjab from Wednesday. After the situation remains normal for 72 hours, monsoon will be active again in the state from August 23 and there will be chances of rain.

Patiala – There will be light clouds and rain is also expected. The temperature will be recorded between 27 to 33 degrees.

Mohali – There will be light clouds. The temperature will be recorded between 26 to 32 degrees.
