Sanaa: At least 11 people have been killed in airstrikes on a village in Yemen’s capital Sanaa carried out by Saudi warplanes, Houthi-run al-Masirah TV said on Saturday.
Five homes were destroyed by the airstrikes in the village of Ash Sharyah in Bani Hushaysh district, east of Sanaa, killing women and children, the channel said.

Eleven bodies were recovered from the rubble by rescue teams but the casualties are still preliminary, the head of the district’s health office told the channel.
Houthi Media Claims Rescue Teams Were Targeted
In addition, Saudi warplanes carried out two airstrikes in the area hitting roads leading into the village and targeting rescue teams, al-Masirah TV said.
It was unclear what the attacks targeted and the Saudi led coalition did not immediately comment.
Warplanes had been circling Sanaa earlier in the day, a local resident told Xinhua News Agency.
Yemen Market Attack Killed 30 People
The latest airstrikes follow an attack on a busy market in southwestern Yemen’s Taiz province a day earlier that killed at least 30 people. The Houthis and government authorities accused each other of carrying out the attack.
The latest incidents come as fighting has increased between the Houthi rebels and government forces backed by the Saudi led coalition. Airstrikes have been carried out across Yemen and the Houthi rebels have claimed missile and drone attacks inside Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Coalition Says Three Drones Shot Down
The Saudi led coalition said on Wednesday they shot down three drones targeting Saudi territory including one in the western Mecca region.
The Houthi group in Yemen said they launched drone and ballistic missile attacks on an airport and an airbase in southwestern Saudi Arabia.
“We shot down one drone in the Mecca region,” said Turki Al-Maliki, a spokesman for the coalition on social media site X. He did not give any further details.
Later he said two other drones had been shot down. One was intercepted in the Eastern Province and one was heading towards the southern region.
