Women’s Commission Flags Chandigarh Police Negligence in Yograj Singh FIR

A major negligence has come to light in the FIR registered at Chandigarh’s Sector-36 police station against former cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s father and actor Yograj Singh. In the FIR, the police recorded the address of the Punjab Women’s Commission instead of the accused Yograj Singh’s address.

According to the information, at the time the FIR was filed, the complainant was also not present at the police station. It is being reported that in haste, the police copied the address written on the authority letter sent by the Punjab Women’s Commission.

In fact, on Thursday, the Punjab Women’s Commission had taken cognizance of this matter on its own and directed senior officers of the Punjab Police to conduct an investigation. The authority letter sent by the Commission had the address of the Punjab Women’s Commission on its letterhead, which the police mistakenly recorded in the FIR instead of the accused’s address.

The lawyer gave a complaint to the police

Two lawyers from Chandigarh had filed a complaint with the police against Yograj. The lawyers used a video clip going viral on social media as its basis.

Their allegation is that offensive words against women were used in the video. In it, Yograj Singh is saying – ‘Women are on the stove during the day, at night on @#$%’.

The complainants had requested the SSP that an FIR be immediately registered against Yograj Singh and other concerned individuals and strict legal action be taken. They said that this has hurt people’s sentiments. It is an insult to the honor and rights of women. Following this, an FIR was registered against him on Thursday at Sector 36 police station.
On Thursday, the Punjab Commission for Women also got involved in this matter. The commission wrote a letter to the Punjab Police asking them to have a senior officer conduct an investigation. This video clip is taken from an episode of the Hindi web series ‘Lukkhe,’ which was released on Amazon Prime Video on May 8, 2026. It is being circulated on social media and based on the dialogues spoken in this web series, both lawyers have filed a complaint against Yuvraj Singh and others. Yuvraj Singh has not yet responded to this.

Read the complaint in 4 points…

Use of abusive language: The complaint was sent to the SSP on May 12 by the District Bar Association Treasurer and Advocate Ujjwal Bhasin and Jatin Verma. They argued that a 17-second video has gone viral on social media. In it, shameful, insulting, and abusive language is used against women. It contains words like ‘Janani din mein chulhe…’. The things being said are clearly displayed on the screen.

Direct attack on the dignity of women: The second argument in the letter is that this is not only insulting, but a direct attack on the dignity, decency, and respect of every woman, including our mothers, sisters, daughters, and wives. Such language was used from the mouth of an influential national-level person like Yograj Singh.

Demand for an FIR against Yograj Singh: The complaint states that do such statements truly reflect the teachings of equality and respect associated with Sikh principles? Such language goes against the moral values expected from a ‘Guru Sikh.’ An FIR should be filed immediately against Yograj Singh and other concerned individuals, and strict legal action should be taken to protect the respect and rights of women.

Irresponsible language despite being a celebrity: At the end of the complaint, it is argued that being a well-known personality, his statements serve to normalize an ideology of hatred toward women in society and hurt public sentiments.

What is the scene in which Yograj Singh delivered the dialogue… In the web series ‘Lukkhe,’ Yograj Singh’s character, Walia Sahib, is called to a police station. A senior police officer and a female police officer are present there. After talking among the three, the police officer takes Yograj’s character, Walia Sahib, aside.

After being away from the female officer, the senior police officer praises his female police officer to Walia. During this time, Yogrāj’s character insults women and says inappropriate things about them.

Women’s Commission strict on viral video

On Thursday, the Punjab State Women’s Commission sent a letter to the Punjab Police Headquarters in Chandigarh. In the letter, the Commission stated that it has taken cognizance of a video going viral on social media. The video contains offensive language towards women. The Commission has asked for appropriate action to be taken in this matter and for a report of the action taken to be sent to the Commission.

Five controversial statements of Yuvraj Singh…

Accusation against MS Dhoni in September 2024: Yuvraj Singh, in a YouTube interview, had alleged that former cricketer MS Dhoni ruined Yuvraj Singh’s career. This statement caused a lot of controversy. However, Yuvraj Singh never supported this statement. Later, in April 2026, Yuvraj Singh publicly apologized on a public platform.

Talked about shooting Kapil Dev in January 2025: In an interview given in January 2025, Yograj Singh claimed that he had gone to former cricketer Kapil Dev’s house with a gun intending to shoot him. However, he said that he stopped upon seeing Kapil Dev’s mother in front.

Controversial comments on wife and Indira Gandhi: In January 2025, during a series of interviews, Yograj Singh made controversial remarks about not giving power to his wife and about former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi destroying the country.

Mocked Hindi-speaking men: On January 12, 2025, a video of Yograj Singh went viral during a show, in which he was seen mocking Hindi-speaking men. This statement received considerable criticism on social media.

Statements about women in Rohit-Virat’s career: In January 2025, Yograj Singh had also made controversial remarks regarding Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s careers and retirement. He had said that women should not come between the careers of players. There was quite an uproar over this statement as well.
