Young man dies in a car collision in Jalandhar; accused absconding

A speeding car hit a young man riding a motorcycle near Lamma Pind Chowk in Jalandhar. The rider was thrown about five feet and fell to the ground, dying on the spot. The deceased has been identified as Arun, a resident of Guru Nanak Pura.

The deceased, Arun, worked in a private factory. He was on his way to work from his home when the accident occurred near the Lumma Pind Chowk flyover. Following the accident, a long traffic jam formed at the scene. Passersby immediately informed the police station. Police arrived at the scene, took possession of the body, and sent it to the Civil Hospital for a post-mortem.

Eyewitness Manjit Singh said that when the car hit the bike rider from behind, the young man jumped about five to seven feet and died on the spot. The car driver fled the scene after the accident.

The bike rider was in his lane.

Another eyewitness, Kapil Kumar, said that he was traveling in his car. A Venue car was traveling alongside them, traveling at a speed of over 130 kilometers per hour. The biker was maintaining his lane, but the speeding car driver hit him.

Police said the case is under investigation.

Investigating officer Balkaran Singh of Rama Mandi police station said they received information from the control room about a young man’s death after being hit by a car near the Lumma Pind flyover. A police team immediately arrived at the scene, took possession of the body, and informed the deceased’s family. The police have sent the body to the civil hospital for a post-mortem examination and have begun investigating the case.
