Young Man Shot Dead in Moga After Assailants Fire Multiple Rounds; Family Alleges Political Rivalry

Moga: A young man was shot and killed by assailants in Moga, Punjab, at 6 a.m. on Saturday. Two attackers fired multiple rounds at the man and fled. The man died on the spot.

According to reports, the young man worked at Nestlé India Limited. He left home in his car as usual in the morning to go to work. As he approached a short distance from home, unknown assailants, who were already lying in wait, opened fire indiscriminately on his car.

Following the incident, panic gripped the area. Family members alleged that the young man had supported a candidate in the block committee elections and was killed due to a grudge.

Meanwhile, upon receiving the information, police arrived at the scene, took possession of the body and sent it for a postmortem. Police have cordoned off the area and launched an investigation, and footage from nearby CCTV cameras is also being examined.

The deceased has been identified as Umar Singh, a resident of Bhinder Kalan village in Moga. He worked at Nestlé India Limited in Moga. As he left his home, his car was fired upon, shattering the windows, and he was then shot to death.

Meanwhile, the deceased’s family alleges a rivalry related to the Block Committee elections was the motive behind the murder. Happy, the deceased’s cousin, stated that the village head, Indra Pal Singh, was involved. He said the attack was a result of supporting another candidate in the election.

Police officials say the case is being investigated from every angle. Statements from the family members have been recorded, and further action will be taken based on the allegations.
