Youth hit by speeding car while crossing road, killed on spot

A young man died in a road accident near Ballan village on the Jalandhar-Pathankot National Highway on Wednesday night. He was hit by an unidentified speeding car while crossing the road, killing him on the spot.

The deceased has been identified as Dinesh Kumar (son of Lalu), a resident of Bihar, currently living in a PG in Kishangarh. The accident occurred when Dinesh was crossing the road after returning from work. The speeding car coming from Pathankot did not stop after hitting him.

Road Safety Force Informed Family

As soon as the incident was reported, the Road Safety Force team was activated. ASI Ranjit Singh arrived at the scene with his team, identified the body, and informed the deceased’s family. Upon receiving news of the accident, the deceased’s family and relatives gathered on the highway. Angry people staged a sit-in protest, blocking traffic for approximately two hours.

The SHO of Maksudan Police Station assured action. Given the gravity of the situation, SHO Gurpreet Singh of Maksudan Police Station was immediately informed. Shortly after, police teams from Maksudan and Kartarpur Police Station arrived at the scene with heavy reinforcements. They assured action and calmed the situation, ending the protest and clearing the blockade.
