Jalandhar Commissionerate’s drive against drugs; 9 arrested, heroin and tablets recovered

Jalandhar: Under the ongoing anti-drug campaign “Yudh Nashian Virudh,” the Commissionerate Police Jalandhar continues its relentless crackdown on drug trafficking. In the latest coordinated operations, police teams arrested nine individuals and registered seven FIRs under the NDPS Act across various police stations within the Commissionerate’s jurisdiction. These efforts led to the seizure of 517 grams of heroin, 140 intoxicant tablets, and one Verna car.

Providing details of the operation, the Commissioner of Police said that multiple raids were conducted in different parts of the city to dismantle drug networks. As a result, seven FIRs were registered and nine accused were apprehended, significantly disrupting the drug supply chain. The seizures included 517 grams of heroin, 140 intoxicant tablets, and a four-wheeler vehicle (Verna car).

In addition to strict enforcement, the Commissionerate Police remains committed to rehabilitating drug addicts as part of a comprehensive strategy to combat substance abuse. During the campaign, 23 drug addicts were identified and referred to de-addiction centres—with 14 admitted to OOAT, 1 individual processed under Section 64A of the NDPS Act, and 8 sent to rehabilitation centers.

CP Jalandhar reaffirmed the Police’s holistic approach to addressing drug abuse, ensuring sustained enforcement against smugglers and traffickers while simultaneously promoting rehabilitation and long-term solutions for addicts.
