Yudh Nashian Virudh: Police Demolish Drug Dens in Ludhiana; temporary police post to be established

As part of the ongoing campaign against drugs in Ludhiana, the police took decisive action by demolishing dilapidated rooms which had become havens for drug addicts using JCB machines. ACP Raj Kumar and Gagandeep Malhotra, the SHO of Police Station Division No. 7, were present at the scene during the operation.

This operation was carried out in the Jagdish Nagar locality and along the banks of the Budha Dariya (Budha Nullah), areas falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Division No. 7, where anti-social elements had long been utilizing these ruins for drug consumption and other illicit activities.

According to police officials, they had been receiving persistent complaints from local residents that the site had turned into a hub for drug addicts and anti-social elements, creating an atmosphere of fear and insecurity among the locals. Taking these complaints seriously, the entire structure was demolished on Thursday with the aid of JCB machines. A heavy police force was also deployed in the area during the operation.

Plans for a Temporary Police Post Along the Budha Dariya

ACP Raj Kumar stated that plans are currently underway to establish a temporary police post along the banks of the Budha Dariya to bolster the campaign against drugs further. Discussions regarding this initiative will also be held with the local MLA. He emphasized that the police’s objective is to eradicate drugs and crime from the area completely, and that such operations will continue in the future.

Meanwhile, Councilor Ashwani Sharma welcomed the police action, assuring that full cooperation would be extended to this campaign against drugs. He remarked that this step was essential for safeguarding the youth from drug abuse and for ensuring the security of the locality.
