Zardari Says He Was Told ‘War Has Begun’, Advised to Take Shelter During Operation Sindoor

Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has admitted for the first time that he was advised to go to the bunker for security reasons during Operation Sindoor. His statement reflects the impact of the precise and strategic air strikes carried out by India, which targeted important military installations in Pakistan.

Zardari said that when the Indian Air Force launched the attacks, his military secretary immediately asked him to go to the bunker. But he declined the offer, citing leadership duties. He said, “If martyrdom is destined, it will happen here. Leaders don’t die in bunkers; they die on the battlefield.”

How ​​India Conducted Operation Sindoor

India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 and carried out precision strikes on Pakistani terrorist infrastructure and military installations until May 10. This action was taken in response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Subsequent aggressive attempts by Pakistan were also thwarted by the Indian Air Force with a strong response.

This operation is being considered a strong demonstration of Indian strategic capability.

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister also acknowledged

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, also acknowledged that Indian attacks damaged the Noor Khan Air Base (located in Chakala, Rawalpindi) and injured several soldiers stationed there.

According to Dar,

Within 36 hours, India sent 80 drones towards Pakistan, of which 79 were intercepted, but one drone damaged a military installation.

Indian Air Force Claims—Major Losses to Pakistan

According to the Indian Air Force, six Pakistani military aircraft, including five fighter jets and one large aircraft, were shot down during Operation Sindoor.

Air Chief Marshal AP Singh reported that India destroyed several strategic military assets, including Pakistan’s AEW&C systems.

While top Pakistani leaders are acknowledging the severity of the attacks, official statements from the government and military continue to downplay them. However, Zardari’s statement proves that tension and anxiety were at their peak within Pakistan at that time.
