Zelenskyy Unveils 20-Point US Peace Plan to End Ukraine-Russia War

Ukrainian: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday unveiled a new US-led peace plan aimed at ending the ongoing war with Russia. He stated that the proposal had been finalized between negotiators in Kyiv and Washington and sent to Moscow for its response. Although the full draft was not made public, Zelenskyy briefed reporters on its key points.

The agreement will also include separate bilateral agreements between the US and Ukraine on security guarantees and post-war reconstruction.

Guarantees of Sovereignty and Security

Under this plan, Ukraine’s sovereignty will be re-recognized and a full and unconditional non-aggression pact will be established between Russia and Ukraine. Satellite and drone-based systems will be implemented to monitor any violations along the border.

Ukraine’s peacekeeping force will remain at 800,000 troops. The US, NATO, and European countries will provide security guarantees similar to NATO’s Article 5. If Russia attacks again, immediate military action and severe economic sanctions will be imposed against it. Ukraine will remain a non-nuclear state.

Borders, Ceasefire, and Humanitarian Provisions

The current troop deployments in Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia, and Kherson will be considered a temporary borderline. Russia will be required to withdraw its troops from the Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions.

All prisoners of war and detained civilians will be exchanged, and children and political prisoners will be repatriated. Following the agreement, a complete ceasefire will be implemented immediately, and elections will be held in Ukraine soon.

Reconstruction and Economic Cooperation

The US and European countries will establish a special fund of $200 billion for the reconstruction of Ukraine. This money will be invested in infrastructure, technology, energy, and urban reconstruction. The World Bank will also provide a special financial package.

Ukraine will gain EU membership within the stipulated timeframe, and the process of a free trade agreement with the United States will be accelerated.

Zelensky stated that the agreement will be monitored by a “Peace Council,” chaired by US President Donald Trump. It will include the US, Russia, NATO, Europe, and Ukraine. Any violations will result in strict action and sanctions.
