New Delhi: Zomato has increased its platform fees by 19.2%, or approximately ₹2.40 per order. According to the latest billing details available on the app, the fee now stands at ₹14.90 per order (before GST), up from ₹12.50 previously.
Including taxes, users will now have to pay around ₹15 per order in platform fees. The company previously revised the fees in September 2025. In February 2025, it was increased from ₹6 to ₹10 per order.
In fact, in August 2023, Zomato first implemented a platform fee of ₹2 per order, which has been gradually increased.
Impact of rising costs, Swiggy also charging almost the same
The company states that this increase is due to rising operational costs. In particular, the rise in LPG and crude oil prices has increased expenses for both restaurants and delivery partners.
For this reason, food delivery companies are adjusting their charges to improve their unit economics and profit margins.
Zomato’s main competitor, Swiggy, is currently charging a platform fee of approximately ₹14.99 per order (including taxes), meaning the charges for both companies have become almost equal.
Company’s earnings increased, but expenses also increased sharply
Zomato’s parent company, Eternal, reported strong financial performance in the third quarter (Q3) of FY 2025-26.
The company’s consolidated net profit increased 72.88% to ₹102 crore, compared to ₹59 crore in the same period last year. Revenue from operations more than tripled to ₹16,315 crore, compared to ₹5,405 crore a year ago.
However, the company’s expenses also saw a sharp increase, indicating that rising cost pressures remain.
Stock fluctuations, weekly gains but monthly declines
Regarding the company’s stock, Eternal (Zomato’s parent company) closed at ₹233 on Friday, up 1.86% from its previous close.
The stock gained approximately 7.5% for the week, but has fallen by approximately 13% in the past month.
Zomato’s platform fee increase indicates that food delivery companies are now focusing more on increasing profits and managing rising costs. However, this is directly impacting customers, who will now have to pay higher charges on each order.
