1,746 young men recruited in Punjab Police, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann hands over appointment letters

Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann handed over appointment letters to 1,746 young men recruited in the Punjab Police during the passing out parade held at the PAP Ground in Jalandhar. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that the new recruitment will further strengthen the state police force and that the process of providing government employment to young men based on merit is progressing.

13,092 young men recruited in four and a half years

According to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, 13,092 young men have been inducted into various ranks of the Punjab Police in the last four and a half years. Additionally, the recruitment process for 3,298 constables is currently underway. He stated that in addition to strengthening the police force, emphasis is also being placed on training, technology, and resources in line with modern needs.

Claiming to provide jobs to 70,840 youth

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that the Punjab government has so far provided government jobs to 70,840 youth based on merit. Describing the recruitment process as “bribery-free, recommendation-free” and transparent, the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that many youth have secured government jobs more than once in different departments based on their merit. He stated that the Punjab government’s objective is to increase employment opportunities for youth in Punjab’s villages, towns, and cities.

1,600 New Posts Approved in the Police Department

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that 1,600 new posts have been approved for filling the district cadre of the Punjab Police through departmental promotions. These include 150 Inspectors, 450 Sub-Inspectors, and 1,000 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs). According to the Punjab government, these posts will provide promotion and career advancement opportunities to existing police personnel.

The Role of Police on the 532-Km-Long Border

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that being a border state, the Punjab Police’s responsibilities are different from those of other states. Referring to Punjab’s approximately 532-kilometer-long international border, he said the police have played a crucial role in maintaining peace and law and order in the state. He urged the new police personnel to work professionally, adopt modern investigative techniques, and prioritize serving the people.

The Campaign Against Drugs is Successful

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann also mentioned the “Yuddh Nasha Virudh” campaign being run against drugs in the state. He claimed that a large number of drug smugglers have been arrested under the campaign and properties linked to the drug trade are also being seized.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann appealed to the new police personnel to play an active role in efforts to stop the supply of drugs and make Punjab drug-free. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann also mentioned the Punjab Road Safety Force (SSF). He said the state has launched a dedicated force with the aim of reducing road accident deaths on highways.
