The Vigilance Bureau Barnala team has arrested a Patwari and a Field Kanungo in the case of taking a bribe of Rs 15 thousand. The sister of the Field Kanungo involved in this case has also been nominated, and her arrest is yet to be made. The Vigilance Department is conducting raids to arrest her. The accused Patwari is the president of the Patwar Union of Barnala district.
According to the Vigilance Bureau officials, Kiranjit Kaur Dhaliwal, wife of Late. Manjit Singh Dhaliwal, resident of Thulliwal, had complained to the Vigilance in this regard. In the complaint, Patwari Mander Singh, son of Roop Singh, resident of Patti Aulakh Thikriwala, Field Kanungo Sanghera Gurcharan Singh, son of Nahar Singh, resident of village Thulliwal, and Kanungo’s sister Mahinder Kaur, widow Ajmer Singh, resident of Nangal, had taken bribe of Rs. 10,000 and later Rs. 5,000 in exchange for land work.
After studying the complaint in depth, the Vigilance Bureau arrested Mander Singh Patwari and Gurcharan Singh Field Kanungo on Wednesday, while the arrest of Mahinder Kaur, widow of Ajmer Singh, resident of Nangal, is pending.
A case has been registered against the arrested persons by the Vigilance Bureau, Patiala Range Police Station. Officials said that Mahinder Kaur will also be arrested soon.
