After late night explosions missile debris found in Amritsar villages, army personnel cordon off area

At that time, police termed the explosions as the sound of a sonic boom, but in the morning, debris of missiles was recovered from the wheat fields.

Amid ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan following the ‘Operation Sindoor’, targeted strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, explosions were heard last night in Amritsar. Panic-stricken people of Punjab’s Amritsar came out of their houses after hearing the explosions and lights flashing in the sky.

As per reports, the incident took place around 1 am when people heard a series of explosions. At that time, police termed the explosions as the sound of a sonic boom, but in the morning, debris of missiles was recovered from the wheat fields.

Reportedly, Debris of missiles was recovered from fields in Jethuwal, Makhan Windi and Pandher on the city’s outskirts in the morning.

Congress MP from Amritsar, Gurjeet Singh Aujla, reached the spot where debris was found. He informed that the army has been called to the spot. He said, “The Army has been called here. We have to cooperate with the Army and the Administration. We are ready for this (to face the ceasefire violation by Pakistan). India only took action on terror sites in Pakistan, but look what they (Pakistan) have done.”


As soon as the information was given, Army personnel cordoned off the area where projectile debris was found in the border area of the Amritsar district

It should be noted that since the time of writing no official confirmation of the cause of late-night explosions has been given.  Since the operation Sindoor, security has been heightened in Amritsar, which is located 30km from the international border.  As per the Indian Armed Forces, Operation Sindoor was carried out at terror camps located in Pakistan and PoK.
