Varanasi, May 12: The weather suddenly changed in UP. Due to the activation of a western disturbance, the weather department has issued an alert of rain and strong winds in 50 districts of the state. The wind will blow at a speed of 30-40 kilometres per hour in these districts.
In the last 24 hours, the temperature crossed 40 degrees in more than 15 districts of the state. Varanasi was the hottest with a temperature of 42.2°C. The Meteorological Department says that there are indications of an increase of 5 to 6 degrees in the maximum temperature in most areas of the state in the coming three to four days.
On Sunday evening, Prayagraj was suddenly overcast with heavy clouds. It rained with a strong storm. Lucknow and Bahraich also witnessed rain with a storm. Jhansi was overcast with heavy clouds on Sunday afternoon. It was dark during the day. Winds blew at a speed of 60 kmph. Many hoardings and trees were uprooted in the city.
The wall of a house collapsed in Shivaji Nagar. However, there was no damage. After this, heavy rain caused waterlogging in many areas. There were dense clouds in Varanasi since morning.
Heat wave warning in UP from May 14
Meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh said that the temperature will rise by 5 to 6 degrees in the coming three to four days. Along with this, there is a possibility of a heat wave in the south-eastern and north-western parts of the state from May 14. He said that a western disturbance has become active due to which there may be light rain with strong winds in the state for 24 hours.
