UP ATS arrested Pakistani Spy Mohammad Tufail from Varanasi

UP ATS has arrested Mohammad Tufail from Hanuman Phatak in Varanasi. Tufail was spying for Pakistan. He had contacted 600 Pakistanis in a year.

Varanasi, May 23: UP ATS has arrested Mohammad Tufail from Hanuman Phatak in Varanasi. Tufail was spying for Pakistan. He had contacted 600 Pakistanis in a year. He used to talk to the wife of a Pakistani officer on WhatsApp for hours.

Tufail sent him videos of Delhi’s Rajghat, Railway Station, Jama Masjid, Red Fort, and Nizamuddin Auliya. Apart from this, he also shared content related to Namo Ghat and Gyanvapi of Kashi. During interrogation, it was revealed that Tufail used to attend the gatherings of Pakistani Ulemas across the country on the pretext of religious tours and listen to their speeches.

He used to send messages on WhatsApp to people of the Muslim community, calling himself a soldier fighting for Ghazwa-e-Hind and Hadith. He met Pakistani Ulemas and Maulanas in a gathering in Hyderabad. Since then, his links with Pakistan have been established. Tufail had also met people associated with the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya a year ago.

Tufail told the ATS officers that this was the Pahalgam attack, otherwise, he was going to celebrate Bakrid in Pakistan. ATS has found diaries, books and cuttings of Indian and foreign newspapers from Tufail’s house.

The spy was on the radar of ATS-NIA for 3 months

Spy Tufail was not only on the radar of ATS but also of NIA. He was on the radar of agencies for 3 months. The number of his close ones was also under surveillance. After arresting him on Thursday, when the ATS started questioning Tufail, he started misleading them. ATS interrogated him strictly by showing the speeches and WhatsApp chats found on his mobile. Only then did he admit his relations with Pakistanis.

However, he refused to give any information about the Pakistanis. Tufail said that I used to go to different places to listen to the lectures of Pakistani Ulemas. I was going to go to Pakistan and was getting the documents ready for it. Due to the dispute at Pahalgam and the border, the visa application was stopped, otherwise it was decided to celebrate Bakrid in Pakistan.

Tufail lived with his mother in his maternal home .

Abul Hasan, who lives in Hanuman Phatak, married his daughter Nazia to Maqsood Alam of Dosipura in 2008. Maqsood, who is an electrician, divorced his wife in 2014 and sent her to her maternal home. Nazia came to her maternal home with her two sons Tufail and Shiptain and a daughter.

From then on, she started living in her father’s house and teaching children. Tufail learned the art of ceiling work in his childhood. He started going to the gatherings with his grandfather. Later, he started going alone. Tufail used to stay at his grandfather’s saree shop during the day and go to the gatherings in the evening.
