Heavy rain alert in Himachal; Monsoon likely to arrive early

Western Disturbance is becoming active in Himachal Pradesh from tomorrow.

Shimla, June 19: Western Disturbance is becoming active in Himachal Pradesh from tomorrow. It will rain in the mountains for the next 5 days. An orange alert has been issued for heavy rain, especially between 21st and 23rd June. This warning has been given to Shimla, Sirmaur, Hamirpur, Una and Bilaspur districts.

The weather is forecast to be clear in most parts of the state today. Shimla is also sunny in the morning. According to the Meteorological Department, monsoon may arrive in Himachal within the next one or two days.

Meteorologist Shobhit Katiyar said that conditions are favourable for the advancement of the southwest monsoon in some parts of the state. If this happens, this time the monsoon will reach Himachal four to five days earlier.

The normal date of monsoon entry is 25 June

The normal date of monsoon entry in Himachal is 25 June. In the year 2024, the monsoon arrived on 27 June with a delay of two days. This time the monsoon will enter a little earlier. There is good rain in the state even before the entry of monsoon. This has also reduced the temperature and the weather on the mountains has become pleasant.

Mercury dropped due to rain

The average maximum temperature of the state has fallen 2 degrees below normal. The maximum fall in temperature of 5.2 degrees has been recorded in Chamba and the temperature here was recorded at 32.9 degrees.

Kangra’s mercury dropped by 3.5 degrees from the normal to 35.0 degrees, Kalpa’s mercury dropped by 3.5 degrees to 19.1 degrees, Nahan’s mercury dropped by 2.4 degrees to 29.0 degrees and Shimla’s maximum temperature dropped by 0.5 degrees from the normal to 24.4 degrees Celsius.

The temperature will drop from tomorrow

According to the weather department, there will be a slight rise in temperature today. But from tomorrow onwards, the temperature will fall by four to five degrees for the next five days.
