The Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding rain and strong winds in many districts of Punjab till June 22. On June 21-22, most of the districts of Punjab will receive rain, and winds will blow at a speed of 40 km. Meanwhile, drizzle was seen in Amritsar in the morning. After which, people got slight relief from the heat.
An average increase of 3.6 degrees Celsius has been recorded in the maximum temperature in Punjab, although the temperature still remains 1.7 degrees below normal. Monsoon is also expected to reach Punjab in the next few days.
Last evening, the highest temperature in the state was recorded at 38.1 degrees Celsius in Pathankot. While Amritsar recorded 38.0°C, Ludhiana 34.3°C, Patiala 35.2°C, Mohali 36.0°C, Faridkot 34.6°C, Sangrur 37.6°C, Ferozepur 36.4°C, Nawanshahr 37.5°C and Rupnagar 38.0°C.
From 19 to 22 June, strong winds (30-40 km/hr) and heavy rainfall, along with thunderstorms, are expected in many districts of the state. Today, yellow alert has been issued in 8 districts of Punjab adjoining Himachal Pradesh, namely Hoshiarpur, Pathankot, Nawanshahr, Mohali, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, and Gurdaspur.
According to the Meteorological Department, the intensity of heat has increased again in the state, but there is a possibility of partial relief from strong winds and rain in the next 4-5 days.
